There's a bougainvillea plant in our house. It's not much to look at when it's not in bloom. Recently, my mother tied most of it's branches together in an attempt to control how wild it was growing. And by doing that, she happened to break off the most beautiful branch on the plant. The one branch which had those lovely purple flowers (they're not actually flowers but let's not go into that) growing on it. And it made me think.
In a way, isn't that exactly what society does to us?
In a misguided attempt to control us, or as they say, "fix" us, society often ends up destroying what could have been the most beautiful parts of us. And the saddest part is that most of the time we don't even realize it...
