On mahogany trees and why people who ask for dowry are assholes.

So, I've been wanting to write this for ages but I'm lazy AF. Anyway, few months ago my mom and I were talking about this mahogany tree we have in the backyard of our house (when I say backyard, I mean a narrow passage at the back of our house). Apparently some of neighbours wanted it to be cut down, but as mahogany is a protected species, nobody can cut that tree without proper permission from the authorities (yay!).
So my mom was casually like, "That tree will be used for your dowry when you get married." For a second, I was quiet, then I said, "Firstly, I am not marrying anyone. Secondly, I will DEFINITELY NOT marry anyone who asks for dowry."
My mom laughed and said, "You'll be the one taking the dowry, eh?"
I laughed, "Obviously. People should pay me to marry them."
But on a more serious note, this dowry taking bullshit needs to stop. Like now. I don't even know how people ask for dowry? Have you no shame?
And the number of dowry killings in this country waaayy too high for a country that worships the female form as the Goddess.
Ironic isn't it?
Stories of women being brutalized and even killed by their in-laws because their parents couldn't or refused to give dowry is not unheard of, even now. And that's what enrages me. It's the 21st century for fuck's sake! And this is exactly why the idea of marriage (arranged or love) terrifies me. I don't want to die because I refused to pay someone to marry me. I'm fucking amazing, okay? And if I choose to marry you, you have no idea how lucky you'd be. And that goes for every single woman out there. If she says yes to marrying you, that's the biggest gift you can receive. It's highly upsetting that I need to say this out loud, but a woman is worth so much more than those materialistic things you want.
Also isn't it enough that a girl's leaving her home and family to come live with you? And let's be clear, you're not that much of a catch, okay? (Unless you're Jensen Ackles or Ian Somerhalder) She's sacrificing more than you know, so the least you can do is not be a fucking asshole and beat her up cause her family didn't pay y'all. Her family gave you their child. The child they raised with as much love and affection as your parents raised you. Can you think of the heartlessness you exhibit when you hurt another human being for something as tawdry as money? And to the parents of these heartless people, you are even more horrid because you, despite having a child of your own, hurt the child of another.
Now, some of you may argue that dowry giving is a tradition. To all those of you, I say, "It's also a tradition to pay a bride price to the bride's family but I don't see you doing that so shut your fucking patriarchal douchebag mouths."
To the girls (and guys) out there, if they're asking you to pay them to marry them, just walk out. You're worth so much more. Even if you're madly in love with that person, don't. If they loved you, they wouldn't be asking you for money. I know I would walk out, even if I loved the guy to bits.

Remember,
You deserve unconditional love, not someone treats you like cattle.

As for the dowry takers,
Don't fucking pollute the gene pool with your worthless seed.

Thank you for your time.
Night.

Sugar.

Dark eyes and tattooed skin,
Show me that pure soul, you hide within,
I don't need your love to heal me,
Just touch me, feel me.
Don't need you to say you love me,
Or that you care,
All I care about is your body,
To breathe you in while you're near.
Love my body, I don't want to feel,
Show me that I exist, that I'm real.
Hold me close through the night,
I'll be gone by morning light.
You are beautiful, with dark eyes that shine,
But the irony is, though you're with me, you aren't mine.

"You are my religion, love."

My love for you is greater than any religion, my sweet;
You flow through my veins and echo in every single heartbeat.
This love transcends all limits, of space, logic and time,
Universes can crash, collide and explode, but you can never cease being mine.

"Why do you write?"

I write because the words threaten to flow out of my eyes and drown my soul in sorrow.
I write because I'm afraid that every memory inside me will disappear like leaves blowing in the wind.
I write because I have so much to say yet can never seem to get the words out from my mouth.
I write because life is fragile, just like a butterfly's wings.
I write because I'm yet to live.
Yet to breathe.
Yet to be free.
